Understanding the Problem

Course scheduling for a multi-location education organization involved far more than selecting dates on a calendar. Schedules had to account for course duration, locations, instructor availability, operational constraints, overlapping programs, and organization-specific scheduling rules. As the number of courses and locations increased, creating schedules manually became increasingly difficult to manage consistently. The organization needed a system that could support the people responsible for scheduling without removing the flexibility and judgment required to manage real-world exceptions.
